Substance Abuse Counseling - Centering Elements

Substance Abuse Counseling

Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP)

The Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program (VASAP); Centering Elements is an approved treatment provider for outpatient substance abuse treatment services for clients referred by the VASAP.

Individuals seeking intervention who are not referred by VASAP are also welcomed. VASAP refers clients to us who are in need of additional assessments and services. There are additional fees for a VASAP clinical assessment and group therapy sessions. The number of group therapy sessions per week and duration of treatment are determined after the completion of an assessment.

Centering Elements is currently providing virtual groups for individuals who have received a DUI/DWI conviction in the state of Virginia and are mandated to attend VASAP or have been charged with a DUI/DWI in the state of Virginia and wish to enroll prior to conviction.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP) (coming soon)

Our IOP program consists of 8 to 12 weeks of intensive treatment (3 hours) in the evening. This is followed by a weekly Aftercare program. Individual and group therapy allows clients to develop insights into their struggles and create healthy solutions with therapeutic assistance. The group setting is conducive to the development of intra and interpersonal skills as well as life skills. Group members learn how to rebuild healthy and supportive relationships with peers and greatly improve the existing relationships with family members.

Adolescent Substance Abuse Awareness (ASAA) Program

Our ASAA Program is a resourceful 2-group drug and alcohol prevention and education program. Indicators show that adolescents who have participated in prevention education are less likely to engage in high-risk behaviors (SAMSHA, 2011). The ASAA program also offers supplemental classes for those in need of additional educational hours. Our psychoeducational program focuses on developing stability, insight, as well as emotional and behavioral self-regulation.

The ASAA Program offers a family component to educate parents on current drug trends/culture, as well as skills to better communicate with their teens about the ramifications of alcohol and other drug use.

*The ASAA program is not substance use disorder treatment, and therefore, is not appropriate for those who need or have received treatment.
